Purchase: This tush cushion was a gift from a DEAR friend!! Received it in the summer of 2007.I'm glad she liked me enough to get it as I love it!! From the Cashel company, they retail for $36.50. I have a light weight trail saddle with a slick hard seat so I start to feel any rides over 2 hours in my "sit bones."
Likes: The black elastic cord that loops up, over and around the saddle horn is very strong and appears it will last. The webbing strap that goes around the back of the saddle is wider than I expected ,with a plastic buckle. The strap is more than long enough for my 15" saddle , I should actually cut some off. The covering is a very stretchy knit material, and the black doesn't show dirt. The knit material is holding up very well, the amount of cushioning is just right. I am very comfortable when riding.
Dislikes: My experience with the type of black plastic buckle is that after a while they break, it hasn't yet. If it does I can get a replacement from the fabric store and put it on myself. The back strap has slipped up a few times over the back of my saddle and started to come off, but the back of my saddle is almost straight up, doesn't have much of a roll at the top. That would keep it in place. I can't tighten the strap much tighter. When I ride with a crupper which I do 50% of the time , the crupper ring keeps it from moving anywhere.
Quality: I had made my own tush cushion at home (I sew) but I lost it when I was galloping one day. I never could get it secure enough. I am pleased at how well this cushion is holding up at the points of strain , it appears it will last a long time. I have not washed it yet.
Summary: I'm proud to be an American , and am very gratified to see this cushion is made in the U.S.!!! If my friend hadn't bought it , I was on the point of getting one for myself.
