Model: Coloured Lunge Whip w. Popper
Category: Training Equipment
Purchase: Obviously leaving a lunge whip outside in the elements is bad. It's one of those little things that gets propped up against a tree or fence post when not in use and than forgotten about. Well.. I forgot about it. My lunge whip, when I finally did need it and find it, was ruined. I picked up a whip: the Griffith coloured lunge whip from Victoria Feeds - The Horse & Hound in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada for around $10 Cdn without taxes.
Likes: I picked up a nice bright colour (yellow) so I wouldn't forget about it or lose it again. Being more visible to horses while you're lunging (than a regular black lunge whip) I think it can also motivate the horse more - it doesn't blend into the scenery and get tuned out as much.
Dislikes: The lash (the little piece at the end of the whip) can fray with use or get lost (since it's not attached securely). You can usually pick up spare lashes at any tack store for around $1.50 each. Also, because product gets moved around so much and touched by many customers at the tack store (regardless of where you buy it), you have to make sure that when you buy the lunge whip the lash is still attached. (It would suck to get it home and realize the lash was missing).
Quality: Lunge whip with popper (60"). Nylon covered shaft with a rubber handle. Available in many colours: black, green, blue, red, navy, pink, purple, burgundy and yellow.
Summary: A good, sturdy lunge whip with decent balance - and for a decent price.
