Purchase: The neighbor got an Aaron Martin nylon halter w. patterned overlay for his horse when he first bought her.
It cost approximately $25.00 Cdn with taxes.
Why am I reviewing a product I don't own? Because I'm now in possession of said halter. It got too broken down and frayed to be safe to put on his horse anymore so I'm in charge of finding a better (and safer) replacement. I'm sick of seeing the darn thing hanging off her head.
Likes: The colour was vibrant.
Dislikes: I'm very particular about what kind of nylon halters we get for our horses - they must fit properly and hold up well, but be safe.
Because the noseband isn't adjustable, it doesn't give a customized fit. If it's loose on your horse, it's very loose. There's no way to tighten it (or loosen it if it's too tight).
The strap that runs under the horses chin (between the bottom of the noseband and the bottom of the throat strap) isn't secured so when you undo the halter at the side buckle, the chin strap always comes off. If you need to halter a horse quickly, you can't since you're too busy fiddling with putting the chin strap back on.
Quality: Heavy duty nylon halter with decorative ribbon ("patterned overlay") sewn on the top of the noseband and the cheek pieces.
Cheap hardware. The halter rings, buckles and grommets are all different colours (bronze, silver, etc).
Comes in a variety of colours but it still won't hide the fact that this is a cheap halter disguised as an expensive one.
Summary: $25.00 could buy a MUCH better halter somewhere else. I have bought from Aaron Martin before (leather items) and been very happy. They really dropped the ball with this nylon halter though.
