Purchase: I bought it at my local feed store, I think it was a little over priced at $20 or so. This is the kind that is an apple flavored salt treat.
Likes: It is cute. The apple plastic piece is decorative. The theory is a great idea, and I thought it would encourage my horse to get more salt.
Dislikes: My horse shows no interest in it. I hung it in the opening in my stall, where my horse always hangs out. She at first was afraid of it, and wouldn't approach it. With some coaxing she learned it wasnt anything bad but was just pushing it away. I tried taking it out of the container and showing it to her like a treat. She tried to take a bite of it but didn't like it. I tried putting some molasses on it and showing it to her. She wouldn't even lick the molasses off, which she will normally do if I put molasses on a regular salt block. My horse hates it.
Quality: Cheap and over priced. The pieces are hard to put together and the hole for the hook is hard to get all the way out of the top apple piece. The hook that came with it is too big and hard to put on. It didn't come with a rope so I had to hang it with baling twine.
Summary: My horse hates it. Great idea, horrible product. A normal salt block or salt on top of the food is cheaper and you get much more for less. I do not recommend it.
