Purchase: I bought this saddle on ebay and paid 1200.00, it has been used once. I had researched Martin Saddles prior to looking on ebay.
Likes: Martin saddles trees are built on the backs of live horses for balance (check out their site). The tooling is done by hand not stamped by a machine. I have different kinds of horses: Quarter, Warmblood, & Thoroughbred. This Martin fits right into place on all of them and never chafes or rubs anywhere. I've used the saddle on different horses not belonging to me and it is amazing how well they fit without a special pad.
Dislikes: Nothing
Quality: Hand tooled not stamped like other leading saddle makers, each one with a unique serial number, fleece is extra thick and compacted, quality leather, tree is solid. My horse once freaked out when someone turned on a tractor nearby and ran off just as I was cinching my saddle. It slipped under her belly and she bucked and trampled it. The tree never split and the saddle was unharmed.
Summary: Although Martin's are more than other saddles, it is so worth it. Everyone who rides in my saddle wants one of their own. I currently have a buckaroo model on layaway, it's worth the extra dollars.
