Purchase: Bought the first one on Ebay direct from the maker for 475.00 total. Called the Manager because I had questions. Especially after reading the comments about the same saddle on this review site.
Likes: Basically everything. The Service from the company was excellent. I have bought hundreds of saddles of all price ranges over the past 40 years and you can not find American made saddles for this price anywhere. It is a great buy for the price..Insane really. I just paid 600.00 for a pair of boots and to think that an American company can sell a product 10 times that size with much more leather for less is incredible. The quality for the price exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds.
Dislikes: The only thing that bothered me about the transaction was that I was torn after reading another review on this same site that I might be making a mistake. But that other buyer must have a very skewed view of quality versus price. I am glad I listened the dozens of happy customers and not to the one review on this site.
Quality: My riding buddy just paid 1600.00 for a custom made barrel that looks very much like this one. Now of course this 425.00 saddle doesn't have a few of its features but if I had to judge the price of the Riders Choice against it without knowing how much they charged I would say it was a 1200 dollar saddle easily if the other one was worth 1600.00. I really don't see how they put so much material and quality workmanship into these for the price they sell them.
Summary: I love the little saddle and so do lots of folks around me. Our Club called Jerry and he built us 10 trophy saddles based on this same saddle for our awards ceremony this year. It was a unanimous vote to buy them after I took mine in to the meeting. Two weeks after I turned in the order the Manager called and said they had sold about 8 more saddles to my zip code area. The bottom line is that if you want the best buy on a saddle for your money this is the place to go. They have saddles for people on a budget or they can build you a total custom if you are harder to please.
