Purchase: I purchased my Schleese Wave dressage saddle used off the internet after asking many questions of the seller to be sure I was making a wise choice. It was a non returnable purchase. The saddle was everything I thought it would be and then some! It has a really wide channel that fits my horse well because is gives his spine room. The panels are special short panel design that don't inhibit his shoulders. It is made of beautiful, soft leather and I find the perfect place to sit. The thigh blocks are adjustable because they velcro on. The billet system is incredible because you can move then into four different configurations yourself right while you are tacking up. I have not found the company to be "user friendly" when I asked questions. Probably because they knew I was asking about a used saddle. I plan to have another saddle fitter reflock it when the time comes and not wait forever for the Schleese folks to come to my area. It is an incredible saddle - it replaced an Albion SLK Ultima that my horse had outgrown and which was a very, very hard act to follow. This Schleese Wave is equal to that Albion SLK Ultima in my opinion, and that is saying a lot!
Likes: The panels The adjustable billet system The supportive but not restrictive seat The french leather The width of the channel The velcro on thigh blocks
Dislikes: I like everything about the saddle itself. I did not like trying to pry information out of the Schleese people, so just decided that I would engage another saddle fitter to work on it when the time comes. There are multiple competent saddle fitters out there, so why be held hostage by Schleese just because they made the saddle? Overall, I am thrilled with this saddle.
Quality: First class construction, top of the line leather, soft flocking, fabulous in every respect.
Summary: The Schleese Wave is probably one of the top five saddles made today. Favorably compares to top of the line Hennig, Albion SLK Ultima, County Perfection or Amerigo models. It will not disappoint you if you get the right size for you. Just plan to find your own saddle fitter and not have to deal with Schleese if they are not located near you. If you are lucky enough to get an appointment with them , that would be great too, but realize that many other saddle fitters are available to help you with the saddle if you need to have it fitted.
