Purchase: I purchased these from RoPro for $139. I have short legs and a wide horse which equals some very angled western stirrups which result in significant knee, back and ankle pain. I even have a hard time mounting because the stirrups are so torqued. Crooked stirrups eliminate all these issues. With a little more flexibility I may even be able to mount from the ground instead of a three step mounting block! This was an unexpected perk of the crooked stirrups.
Likes: Sturdy construction and pleasant appearance. These stirrups fit beautifully. My knee pain is nonexistent with these stirrups. I can ride for far longer and have no back pain, ankle pain or knee pain. These are truly amazing stirrups and worth every penny. The tread of the stirrups is now perfectly level compared to the normally 30 degree upward angle of my old roper stirrups.
Dislikes: It would have been nice to have an option for engraving or at least some sort of tread. The bare aluminum can be a bit slippery. I have them wrapped in Vetrap to give them a bit more bite for my shoes.
Quality: Heavy duty yet light. But not so light that you can't find your stirrup. Well constructed. Also they are shorter than most stirrups by about an inch to two inches. This means I can let out more of my fender which allows me to have better movement of my leg. I have very short legs so this is a big deal.
Summary: Frankly I am amazed that it took this long for someone to figure out that regular western stirrups are so horrible. These stirrups fix many issues such as pain while riding and long afterward as well as providing a feeling of security and ease of mounting. About the only thing they don't do is cure cancer or foster world peace. I love these stirrups.
