Purchase: I bought this used saddle (made in Germany, not Switzerland, like the newer ones) at my local tack shop on consignment for $450
Likes: I had wanted a Stubben, but couldn't find one under $900. This German-made high quality leather saddle feels just like a Stubben. I'm a big woman with long legs and my horse is a stocky quarter horse. This Courbette fits us both really well. I like the quality and the fit -- and so does my horse! Someday, I'll want an actual dressage saddle, but I'll keep this saddle for trail riding.
Dislikes: At first I was a bit put off by the unusual mustardy color, but the minute I felt the quality of the leather, I knew it was right for me.
Quality: I tried riding some Courbettes made in Switzerland -- I don't know what "twist" they were, but I ended up riding on my pubic bone. This older saddle, made in Germany, has a wider seat that allows my seat to be, um, comfortable. The panels are wool flocked and the leather is wonderful. I've used this saddle on my foundation Quarter Horse, a Shire lesson horse, and a Thoroughbred/Belgian lesson horse. It fit them all just fine.
Summary: Wonderful older German-made saddle that fits me and any horse I fit. I highly recommend it for any tall/big women.
