Purchase: I bought this saddle used from another rider in my barn who bought it originally for $1200 about 8 years ago for a warmblood. I was having a very difficult time finding a jump saddle for my appendix QH. Even the wide saddles of other mfgrs weren't wide enough or cut into the shoulders. I tried many different brands.
Likes: This saddles sits perfectly on the horse with great clearance in the shoulders and over the spine! Best of all it is so comfortable to sit and puts you in position immediately. My leg hangs correctly for flat or if I shorten up to jump. Love, love, love this saddle!
Dislikes: The only drawback for me is the color...since I bought it used. It's a newmarket light leather that I personally don't care for, but I'm gonna live with it because this saddle is sooo comfortable for me and my horse. I paid a fraction for it, so I can't complain. If I were to buy this saddle new now it would be $2500.
Quality: This saddle has regular wear and tear for it's age, but construction wise it's great. I only changed the stirrup leathers, everything else is good. Billets, flaps, seat, and tree are all fine.
Summary: I would recommend Frank Baines saddles and I have! I agree with the other reviewer of this brand, I can't understand why these saddles aren't more prevalent. Everyone who sits in it loves it. Check out the Frank Baines website for more info on these awesome saddles. They make AP, jump and dressage.
