Purchase: I purchased an original tartan plaid Baker Blanket online from F. B. Grey's Saddlery in Morrisville Vermont. I paid $120.00
Likes: The plaid was pretty when it was new. After that I couldn't see it....
Dislikes: The tartan plaid Baker Blanket is the worst blanket I’ve ever purchased! Even though it is designed to be a “stable blanket” it is a shavings magnet. I expected it would attack a few shavings, but not to this extent. With the exception of the straps, this blanket was completely covered in shavings after my horse laid down in it for the first time. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. The shavings are very impossible to brush off. It’s so covered in shaving that they get all over my clothes and in my eyes when I put the blanket on my horse.
I have a Wilsun Tartan Plaid sheet that is designed for a stable and I love it! It’s made out of material designed to for indoors. The material has a tooth to it, but even so, it doesn’t attract shavings the way the Baker Blanket does.
The 5/A Baker Customer service is another problem. They (including the owner of the company) are rude, defensive and have no interest in satisfying their customers and standing behind their products.
Quality: It's made of a thick woven material that attacks shavings like a magnet. Why they chose this material, I don't know.
Summary: The Tartan Plaid Baker Blanket is a shavings magnet! Shavings stick to it like glue. It’s far worse than any other model of Baker Blanket. After the first time the horse lays down in the stall, the blanket is dirty and ugly. The shavings are impossible to brush off and get in on your clothes and in your eyes when blanketing the horse. Buyer beware!
