Category: Trail Saddles
Purchase: Purchased from Outfitters Supply for $1380, including smooth leather and enduro-balanced double rigging.
Likes: Wow! Sitting in this saddle is like a La-Z-Boy chair! Not only is the deep seat super comfortable, but it sits you correctly. The leather is very nice. The enduro-balance double rigging is awesome! It's well worth the $55 premium. Not only is it logical because the girthing is essentially pulled from both the front and back, and the saddle very much stays in place. I like the weight of this saddle too; not super heavy like a Western saddle. I didn't think that I'd like the Plantation fenders but found that I love them.
Dislikes: I don't like the aluminum Easy Trail stirrups and neoprene girth that comes with the saddle. The aluminum stirrups bang against the horse when I'm not in the saddle, so I'm replacing those with the nylon EasyCare E-Z stirrups. Besides, the aluminum alloy will probably be hot in the summer. My horses hate neoprene girths, so I've had to get another girth. The problem is that the billets are 1 1/4 inch wide, so you need a girth with buckles that are that are at least that wide. No English girth has buckles that wide. Tried using an Aussie girth, but those buckles are exactly 1 1/4 wide and it's a bit snug.
Quality: Couldn't ask for more. The leather needed a good leather creaming before the first ride but it's excellent quality. I'm no novice to saddles, and construction seems to be very high quality. Saddle seat is absolutely awesome!
Summary: The deep seat of this saddle is awesome if you have Off the Track Thoroughbreds like mine. A crow hop here and a racehorse gallop there will keep you seated very comfortably and without worry. I wish that Tucker would rethink the stirrup and girth offerings for this saddle, but they're easily replaceable.
