Manufacturer: Amerigo Vega
Model: Vega Close Contact Jump Saddle
Category: Close Contact Saddles

Purchase: I bought this saddle new from a local tack store in the Seattle area for 2700.00. I chose this saddle based on the extremely high quality construction, high level of comfort for me and its ability to fit several horses very well.

Likes: This is the most well balanced saddle I have ever ridden in. The leather is very high quality calf and has required almost no break in time. On my first ride my trainer warned me that I would most likely hate the feel of a brand new saddle - NOT SO - this saddle was extremely comfortable from the first moment I sat in it. It feels amazing (my trainer rode in it a bit an agreed!). The seat is considered a half deep which is perfect if you like a little added security - the substantial knee and thigh block also help create a secure position for jumping. Also - this saddle is absolutely beautiful! I chose the oakbark color which is a beautiful rich dark red brown, and have gotten multiple compliments on it - it really stands out. Of the many saddles I tried recently in my search, this one was by far the best.

Dislikes: There is nothing I don't like about this saddle.

Quality: This saddle is made from very high quality calf skin. The seat and knee roll are very soft and well padded. The flaps and skirts of the saddle are made from printed calf which appears very durable but soft at the same time. The billets are made from thick, strong leather. The panels are independent swiss construction and are wool flocked. Although this saddle is relatively new and has not seen a lot of use yet, I have no concerns about the quality. It appears to be extremely well made with great attention to detail.

Summary: I Love it! I can't imagine riding in any other close contact saddle after this one. Note: The tree sizes appear to be somewhat generous in comparison to some other brands - I bought a medium tree which fits well on a medium backed thoroughbred, an Irish sport and a wider quarter horse.
