Purchase: State Line Tack in Leesburg was closing (BOOO! ) and they were letting everything go at fire-sale prices in the end. I got this gorgeous black dressage bridle w/o reins for $44.00. It has buckles, not hook bit fasteners. I had intended to use it as a snaffle schooling bridle only, figured it would fade or cheap out on me. How WRONG I was!
Likes: EVERY THING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Honestly, every thing about this bridle is superb. Soft, keeps it's shape, holds it's color, all slick and shiny, even after cleaning after every ride. All the keepers and buckles run up and stay tight, never fighting me or abusing the leather. It's neither too soft, or stiff, I just can't rave enough about it. In fact, I loved it so much I bought another one, just like it for $99.00, and fitted it with a Warendorf bradoon slip, (Dover saddlery) to make that one into a full bridle, added a fancy crystal brow band, (Otto Schumacher); buckle-end Tory Leather black 1/2 inch and 5/8th inch reins, (State Line Tack) and it all came out just stunning, every bit as nice as any super high dollar set up. Not one person who's seen this full bridle can tell it's not all of one make.
Dislikes: There is nothing I don't like about this bridle!!!
Quality: VERY sturdy! This is the only bridle I've seen yet that has workmanship toughness for every day use, while still maintaining a lustrous silky black sheen. It doesn't collapse or sag any where, the keepers stay where you put them. The padding could be softer I suppose, but it certainly isn't at all hard, and I suspect it will become even softer with use.
Summary: This bridle is stunning in looks, craftsmanship, color, design, usefulness for training or show. The full size is on the small side, would not fit a big TB, but it's perfect for a large Arab or QH. You'd need an O/S in this brand for 16+ hand horses.
