Jumping Saddles

Manufacturer: Beval
Model: Stanford
Category: Jumping Saddles

Purchase: I bought this saddle from the owner of one of the barns i ride at, through Beval. Her basement in full of brand new Beval saddles and bridles. I got it for a little over $800. Just the saddle and cover. This is my first saddle. I got it as a starter saddle, thinking to buy a more expensive saddle in 3-4 years.

Likes: It is a very comfortable saddle, a lot of cushion in the seat. Has a wider seat, that helps me sit deeper. It's nice French leather. And breaks in fairly easy, though it wasn't very stiff to begin with. I could barely tell that it was brand new the first time I rode in it. I didn't slip like at all.

Dislikes: My trainer has one, she bought it about a year or so ago and some of the stitching at the bottom of the saddle flap, on the underside (under where your leg is) has been rubbed out. It's kind of bulky in front so you have to watch the thickness of the pads you put under it.

Quality: It's made of very nice French leather (unlike the Princeton). For only $800 it's a good quality saddle! Starts out caramel, so you can oil it to desired color.

Summary: Overall, i like this saddle, that's why i bought it (haha). I'm very happy with it, it's comfortable, good quality. A great starter saddle! I'd make it a 4 and 1/2 if i could in the rating.
