Purchase: I paid $230 for this bridle through Adams Horse Supplies.
Likes: I liked the color and style. It has a plain cavesson which complemented my horse's head. The color, Berber brown, matched my brown saddle.
Dislikes: The leather was dry, the bridle butt felt as though it could come apart. I had to oil the bridle several times and it wasn't able to really get the bridle to have that nice feel.
It felt poorly tanned.
The nose of the cavesson was rubbed, and I've yet to get the rub out.
Quality: The cheek keeper had hooks and one side was so shoddily sewn that the hook sat at a poor angle and was difficult to rehook after cleaning.
The bridle came with plain reins and although they were dry, I did treat with leder balsam numerous times.
They are now CRACKING!
Over all the bridle looks like a cheap Indian leather bridle!
Summary: Overall I was deeply distressed at the condition of the bridle.
I was optimistic it would hold up. I didn't use it 5 months total out of ownership as I was injured and my horse had an injury, so I was even more stunned to see how shoddy it looks after storing in my home and regular cleaning/conditioning.
The sales rep at Courbette told me that they 'don't have a warranty'
Considering the quality of the piece, I would suggest AVOIDING Courbette products.
I will be purchasing a bridle by a smaller, more reliable bridle maker.
It is incredible that a brand such as Courbette would stoop to retailing such apparent garbage onto the horse market.
I could buy a comparable bridle on Ebay for $9.99, without Courbette stamped across the headstall.
Shame on Courbette for producing what is truly a crappy piece of bridlework!
