Purchase: I bought this saddle brand new from Carl Ammerman in Yoakum, Texas. You can see this saddle on Lance Graves website. I had been looking at it for over a year and I finally decided to "just do it." I paid $1725 as per the website price. I was not really pleased with the e-mail communication off the Lance Graves website so I called Carl Ammerman directly. Mr. Ammerman was wonderful to talk to and started making my saddle right away.
Likes: OH WOW!!! It is even more gorgeous than I anticipated. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. It has the most beautiful, rich leather and deep hand tooling. And yes, the ride is fantastic. I have heard people say nothing rides like an Ammerman and it is true.
Dislikes: Not a thing!!!
Quality: Everything about it is made with pride. I live 3 hours from Yoakum, so I made a road trip to pick it up. I met Mr. Ammerman and toured his saddle shop. The saddles are hand tooled by his mother and another older lady. They are very proud of what they do. You can look across the shop and see other saddles in their various stages of completion. Each one is it's own piece of artwork.
Summary: Worth every penny and more. You can buy many saddles out there for the same money (and more)that will not come near the quality. If I had the money to just spend right now, I would have ordered another.
