Purchase: I bought two of these off horse.com for $13 each. I needed them to put in my horse's stalls so they wouldn't waste as much hay as just putting the hay on the floor.
Likes: There is nothing that I like about this hay bag. However, horse.com did give me a full refund for both hay bags, so I did like that.
Dislikes: To begin with, it is very hard to fill. The hardware and craftsmanship is cheap; within a couple of days both had tears and small holes. The horses didn't seem to waste any less hay than had I just put the hay on the floor, as they could drag it out of the top of the hay bag. Lastly, the huge gaping hole in the middle of the feed bag is big enough to catch a horse's hoof is she likes to paw and lifts her leg up high enough...I made the strap as short as possible to attach to the bars of the stall to reduce the risk of her getting her foot caught, yet she still managed to get her foot caught in the hay bag. She twisted her knee backwards trying to get out. One good thing---the bag is ultra cheap so it broke before her leg did.
Quality: Poor quality, only fits a very small amount of hay, hard to fill, rips easily.
Summary: Stay away from this hay bag. Instead, horse.com sells a hay bag by Tough-1 for $19 that is a grid-front hay bag. Legs can't get stuck and horse's cant drag hay out of the top. I own four of these and although they're not completely rip proof (what is around horses?) they are the most durable and safest and best value (spend more on a bag, less on feeding more hay that's been dumped and trampled) of any bag I've seen.
