Purchase: I bought this saddle 1 1/2 years ago because my short-backed Rocky Mtn. Horse required a trail saddle with no skirts to rub or impinge her movement. I do Competitive Trail and Polocrosse and will be ordering a second one for her three- year-old son, my husband's horse.
Likes: Very comfy for us both-the flocked panels broke in nicely after about 12 1-hr. rides. Close-contact feel and the poleys add extra security for those long downhills. Be sure to ask them to install a D-ring fitting centered behind the cantle if you plan to ride with a crupper. Mine came with flat-bar attachments. This saddle is a nice chestnut color with black seat- no nubuck.
Dislikes: Billets are soooo long! I solved this by using the longest neoprene dressage girth (28") I could find. It is sleeved as well so you can tuck in the extra billets. This has also solved the girth slippage problem I had with the standard felt girth. Stirrup leathers also scuffed the saddle's flaps so I bought a knit-type girth cover ($10), cut it in half and slid them over the leathers before reinstalling them. Also, D-ring or plain ring hardware would be more user-friendly than the flat-bar that is standard.
Quality: Very well-made saddle for the price. Decent leather and strong frame, comfy padded and stitched seat which has held up well and doesn't hurt my horses. A little concerned when I learned it was made in Asia but those fears have proved unfounded. Must be a reason I'm buying a second!
Summary: Customer service with this company is excellent. If you would like modifications they are happy to help you out. I'm looking forward to ordering again now that I know what I need.
