Purchase: Purchased at the Hoosier Horse Fair for around $50. I was told this collar would be the best for hard trail rides and would not rub my horse.
Likes: I think the ability to purchase different color strips and it's soft/squeeshy.
Dislikes: This collar rubbed my horse's chest! My quarter horse is 16 hands, with high withers. He is hard on breast collars because his saddle always wants to slide back. I've tried different saddles, saddle pads, etc. I thought this breast collar would provide enough cushion and the soft material wouldn't rub. I was wrong! It seemed good enough for regular trail rides without lots of hills. One time on steep, high hills and his chest was rubbed raw. I also didn't like the fact the side tugs were too short. They were even too short for my quarter horse mare of 15 hands. I ended up buying cheap nylon dog collars to replace them.
Quality: Quality seemed good until it was used on a hard trail ride. The underneath material started to ball up and the strips, across the chest, seem to look really worn, as if I had this collar for years.
Summary: I was reluctant to spend the $50 for this collar. I wish I would've listened to myself! I'm sure this collar would be just fine for a daily stroll or regular riding. If you're thinking about purchasing it for long trail rides with hills, please buy a different collar, unless your horse isn't hard on them. I was not a happy camper after seeing raw marks on my horse the 1st outing of our camping trip!
