Purchase: I bought this a little over year ago for my Arab from Freeform USA (freeformusa.com). When I bought it, it was $1200 complete, but the price has gone up since then. I bought another one for my husband used on the endurance.net tack sale page. I bought his for $1400 used, but his came with two seats and some other extras.
Likes: This is the most comfortable saddle I'd ever ridden in. For years I rode in a number of saddles at a riding school, and they all seemed similarly comfortable/uncomfortable to me. I never thought of my saddle as helping or hurting my riding until I sat in the Freeform treeless. After that day, I was sold. I was really glad that they had a short back version, which is what Arabs need. And I am glad to be rid of the difficult and expensive fitting that treed saddles require. I like that I can put this on almost any horse. I have a 16.5 inch seat. My husband's saddle is a 19" seat of regular length and it's perfect for his thoroughbred. Some people feel like there is too much cushioning but I figure that if it is cushioning me, then it is cushioning my horse as well. LOVE IT.
Dislikes: There is nothing that I don't like about the saddle. Mine had a lot of D rings on it that I didn't really want, but they've come in handy. I worry how I will replace the stirrup leathers if this place ever goes out of business, because the stirrup leathers are sewn onto a velcro band that lays under the saddle seat. So buy an extra set of stirrup leathers.
Quality: Good, soft leather. Wears well. After a year's use plus some, looks perfectly new.
Summary: This is a great saddle to own especially if you don't want to get stuck with a bunch of custom-fit saddles that won't work for a variety of horses. It's also great for younger riders who maybe don't have a lot of hauling strength for heavier saddles. It's a great saddle to have on hand for borrowed horses as well. It doesn't feel like the other structure-less treeless saddles. In fact, I didn't even know it was treeless (but should have, because it is so light.) Light, beautiful and versatile.
