Purchase: I bought this girth from an online retailer (can't remember which one) for around $60. I needed a schooling girth for my large horse, and this one came in a 56''.
Likes: First, I love the price and that it comes in large sizes! The neoprene is very easy to clean; I just hose it down. The double elastic creates even pressure on both sides. My horse is very picky about tack, but he's comfortable in the SMX girth.
Dislikes: The color is an odd brown, and it doesn't come close to matching my saddle. Not a problem for schooling, but it won't look too fancy in the show ring! Also, the girth is really bulky.
Quality: I've had my SMX girth for a few years. It looks brand new when simply hosed off. I use it for trail riding and ring work all year round. There's no rust on the buckles, and the elastic is strong.
Summary: I love this girth for schooling. It can be cleaned/disinfected easily, which is great for lesson programs etc that might use a girth for more than one horse. Because it is bulky and doesn't match my saddle, I wouldn't use it for shows. My sensitive horse has never gotten rubs from it. A great girth for a great price!
