Purchase: I've been riding hunter/jumpers for a few years and wanted to get a new saddle. I had a really cheap saddle that was practically falling apart, so I decided to get a new one. I wanted to get a better made saddle! I searched for a long time and came across Harry Dabbs. They seemed like good saddles. I found the one that I wanted on eBay. I paid $985.00 for it. They retail between $1500.00 and $2500.00
Likes: I really like this saddle. I've taken countless hours of lessons in many different saddles, and the Harry Dabbs was by far the best. It is very comfortable, and has a slightly padded seat. The saddle has extremely soft knee rolls. It is also a very nice color. The saddle is a wide tree and fits my quarter horse great! I've have used this saddle on her for a year and I've had no soreness problems. You do not need a thick saddle pad with this saddle because it fits so well.
Dislikes: The only dislike that I have is the saddle came extremely dry. I had to put several coats of oil on it.
Quality: The construction of this saddle is great. The stitching is fantastic and I see no problems. The saddle has been made well. The leather on the knee rolls and seat is extremely soft. The billets are very strong, I've had problems with this on previous saddles. The stitching on the top of the billets is great. Their is a soft leather covering over the top of the billets to help protect them from the leathers. Overall the saddle is great quality.
Summary: I've had this saddle for over two years and have had no complaints. I've used it steadily over the past year when I purchased my new horse. I've used it in riding lessons and everyone at the barn loves it. It would make a great hunter show saddle. I would buy another Harry Dabbs in a heartbeat!
