Purchase: I bought this pad at my local tack store for $100 in February 2008. I was looking for a pad that would provide shock absorption and protection for my 4 year old future eventing pony, but that would still be lightweight and provide some anti-slip qualities as well. Being young, his shape will change over time as he develops his muscles and topline.
Likes: This pad is simply amazing- I was skeptical at first, but the material did seem like it would help with my minor sideways saddle slippage, so I decided to try it. The best thing about this pad is that as the horse's back warms up, the pad warms up too and truly molds to the horse's back, creating a perfect and custom fit every time. You can actually feel it warm up through the saddle, and yet it does not create extra heat or get hot. This material somehow disperses heat and my pony's back is no more sweaty using this pad than if I just used a plain cotton pad. This pad is light as a feather and returns to its original shape every time. This is one of the best purchases I have made, and I believe it will help my pony stay sound and happy in his work.
Dislikes: There are no negatives on this product!
Quality: Thinline's pad is well-made, and the manufacturer says it will last 10 years.
Summary: This is an expensive purchase for most people, but if the pad does last 10 years, that's $10 per year. That's a tiny price to pay to help protect your horse's soundness and training. Your horse will love it!
