Purchase: Purchased for au$2350 at one of the few stockists in Australia of this brand: 'Saddle-Up'(Saddleworld), Chirnside Park, Victoria. Wanted wider gullet for young horse (WB x) and saddle I felt secure and balanced in, and with enough feel/contact of horse to progress in advanced dressage movements.
This saddle is VERY SIMILAR to the KN MELODIE in rider position & feel etc. But costs $1400 less!
Likes: Suits me and my current horse the best out of the many saddles I tried. Gives rider a naturally balanced position. Deceptively large knee rolls provide security only if horse plays up etc & don't interfere with riders legs at all. Really soft seat! feels secure, very nice contact/feel to the horse, deep without being 'locked in' :) Really wide panels(med soft) distribute rider's weight over large area making it more comfy for horse.
Dislikes: I'm being REALLY picky here - but the finish isn't as 'spectacular' as some top very $$ brands. Not that there's ANYTHING wrong at all -but it just looks very 'simple' with plain flaps (no extra stitching around edges etc). However, the saddle looks well made and is impeccably stitched.
Quality: The www.exselle.com website says it all. All Leather, Straight flap, long girthpoints, semi-deep seat(feels deep to me), 2"high & 9.5"long knee blocks which are completely hidden underneath the plain flap. W.R.S.C. Finnish Birchwood 6 ply tree, hand-riveted metalwork -very strong. Made in England
Summary: Saddle purchased due to best for horse & rider. Priorities were: Fit, Correct Rider position, Security a Comfort, Quality of product, Price, Brand.
