Purchase: This was used at a tack store for $350 because I liked the Crosby saddles and wanted my own. Disclaimer: the saddle was returned after the week long trial period, so I didn't have a great chance to try it out for years.
Likes: Because it was an older model, it was inexpensively priced. The craftsmanship was all Crosby; excellent all the way. The leather was in great shape although still stiff. This seemed odd for a 15 year old saddle, but maybe it wasn't used much.
Dislikes: The seat was very flat and very hard. I didn't like that it didn't have knee rolls, either. Although it was a medium tree, it was rather narrow and pinched my horse's withers. This caused him to invert his back and refuse any sort of collection.
Quality: This is a well made older saddle. It is very much an older style of saddle, with the hard, flat seat, no knee rolls, and very minimal accessories. Nothing for comfort of the rider.
Summary: If you like riding in the old style saddles, this is a durable saddle that you can buy used for cheap and still probably use for another 15 years. However, with the advances they have made for human and equine comfort, I prefer to find something a bit newer. Good quality, but poor for comfort. I like the newer Crosbys better and would recommend those.
