Purchase: I bought this pad off Arete Equestrian for $62.00
A few years ago I broke my back during a riding accident. I was hoping this pad could help with alleviate some of the moderate pain I have from riding.
Likes: The material seems to be very durable and the 30 day guarantee is also a very nice feature.
Dislikes: Even though I got the pad recommended for the size of my saddle it is too small both in length and in width. This is my biggest problem with the pad as I'm afraid that because it is too small it will create pressure points where the saddle overlaps the pad. It's too small for both my 17inch bates Isabelle and for my County Extreme saddles.
Another problem I have with this pad is that there is no wither clearance. If I try to pull the pad up into the gullet of my saddle it slides down on top of my mares withers within only a few minutes of our ride. It presses down on top of her withers and her withers are not prominent at all. I would not recommend this pad for a horse with medium to high withers.
I was also very disappointed to find absolutely no difference in my back pain while using this pad. My mare also does not seem to notice any differences either while using this pad.
Quality: Construction of the pad is fine it looks like it will last forever. Quality would be better if they made the pad so that it will fit the size saddles it's advertised to fit.
Summary: Before shelling out the $$$ for this pad realize that the pad is not a miracle worker and it may or may not work for you. I guess if the pad works for you it's worth the money but it really wasn't worth much for me. I just don't understand all the hype about this product. Waayyy too expensive in my opinion.
