Purchase: I bought it at the local farm supply store on clearance sale for $49. Regular price though is around $100.
Likes: Not much. I guess the look of the pad is nice with the contoured withers and it comes in a zillion colors.
Dislikes: The pad is cheap and flimsy with a feel I can only describe as cardboard and bubble wrap. The pad refuses to stay in place under my saddle and creeps out the back. I had to put velcro strips on it to try to hold it in place. You cannot wash it so when the fleece gets matted down, you're out of luck. Be sure you don't bend it, as it will get disfigured. I have no idea what the inside of this pad is made of but it feels a lot like cardboard. It reminds me of the brim of a baseball hat with some crunchy plastic feel/sound to it.
Quality: Cheap and flimsy. For a $100 pad, I would expect much better than this. I bought the pad against my better judgement, trying to believe the good reviews by big name riders. I was sorely disappointed.
Summary: This pad is fine for a cheap extra but PLEASE don't spend 100 bucks on this pad. If you find one on clearance sale, it might be worth it for an extra or for short pleasure rides but please don't rely on it to protect your horse's back during serious work. Buy a GOOD wool pad and do yourself and the horse a favor.
