Purchase: I've been needing a new pair of leather gloves, and when my old ones disappeared it was the perfect excuse to get a new pair. I liked the look of these gloves when they were first released, but I didn't care for the pink elastic. Luckily they now carry black/black and white/white in addition to the black/pink and white/pink colors. I purchased the black/black option from doversaddlery.com for around $35.
Likes: I love, love, LOVE the quality of the leather and the fit. The leather is incredibly soft and comfortable. SSG integrated an elastic gusset at the wrist and elastic in between the fingers so the glove fits, well, like a glove right away. There is no break-in period as with most leather gloves, and since the elastic provides some "give" the leather doesn't get that stretched-out look as you wear them. I also really liked the reinforcements at key points. There is a leather reinforcement instead of elastic at the crook of the thumb and pointer fingers as well as in the crook of the pinky/ring fingers (where the reins go). In the black/black and white/white options, the glove is also very attractive and conservative. It makes an excellent show choice (though I use mine for riding lessons as well).
Dislikes: The gloves benefit breast cancer research, so there is a small rubber logo with the pink ribbon on the top of the palm. It doesn't interfere with the glove function at all, but I do think the rubber piece could have had a lower profile.
Quality: Very high quality construction: super-soft fine leather with sturdy elastic inserts at between the fingers and an elastic gusset at the wrist. The gloves also have small venting holes on top of the fingers.
Summary: A beautiful, quality glove at a reasonable price. I would recommend this glove on fit alone, but it doesn't stop there. The construction and quality of materials makes it an A+ in my book.
