Purchase: I bought this item new on ebay from a warehouse in California. I paid $61 for the set.
Likes: I love the improved fit from the SMB 2 model. The shorter velcro straps are much easier to keep clean and stitched more firmly into the neoprene. The shape to my horse's leg rather quickly and give her all the extra support she needs along with the padding to prevent her from bruising herself when she knocks her fetlock together.
Dislikes: The only thing that I don't like about this product is the velcro that hugs around the fetlock. It is a lot harder than the SMB 2 to get tightened correctly. I often have to redo it at least three times before it will sit the right way. Of course there is the old complaint from the old version of the boot as well. They are a pain to keep clean and stain rather easily. But, if you don't plan to show in them they are ideal and they do offer the boot covers to put on when you ride as well.
Quality: These boots are extremely durable. I had my SMB 2 boots for two years before my velcros came away from the boot. I ride my horse five days a week and trail ride more than fourteen miles at a time, so I definitely tested their capabilities to the fullest. The neoprene and stitching is good quality and strong.
Summary: I would recommend these to just about any one. They are very well fitted and the durability is the best I have come by. They have one minor technical difficulty that I can find, but other than that, they are ideal all round boots.
