Purchase: I bought this girth from the Smartpak Equine catalog for $39.95. I have been trying to move away from leather tack, simply for ease of care. I don't have as much time to devote to the proper maintenance of leather. This girth seemed to have good features for a reasonable price so I took a chance with it.
Likes: It looks nice enough with my saddle and I am satisfied with it's performance, however, it must be hung to air dry after light use.
Dislikes: If the horse sweats heavily in it, it should be washed thoroughly before using again or it can become stiff.
Quality: This 100% cotton girth is reinforced with nylon webbing. The heavy duty elastic ends on both sides with stainless steel roller buckles distribute pressure evenly and allow the horse ample freedom for ribcage expansion during hard work. A centrally located D-ring enables the rider to easily attach a martingale or breastplate. CoolMax lining keeps your horse cooler year round! Machine washable, too!
Summary: Nice for the price. It does wash well in the washing machine on gentle cycle if you put it in a pillowcase or mesh delicate bag first. Then hang to dry completely before using.
