Jumping Saddles

Manufacturer: Dover
Model: Circuit Grand Prix
Category: Jumping Saddles

Purchase: I purchased this saddle on Ebay. They sell for $799 new, and I paid $595 for it, in new condition.

Likes: After years of riding a completely flat Crosby close contact saddle, I rode one of these in a lesson. This saddle is very comfortable, and helps the rider keep their legs on the proper position. The knee rolls and thigh blocks are great when jumping. It is a nice balanced ride, with a padded seat. I have used this saddle on several horses, and have not had any fit problems.

Dislikes: The only thing I don't like about this model is the keeper slot for the excess stirrup leathers. The excess will sometimes stick up, if it gets caught against the thigh block. That is the *only* thing I don't care for.

Quality: The leather on this saddle is very nice. The stitching is tight, and the billets are attached well. The workmanship is very good. I have ridden quite a few custom and high end saddles, and none of them was any more comfortable than this saddle.

Summary: This is a great saddle for the price (new $799.00). These saddles last almost forever. They are almost impossible to find used, because no one wants to give them up. They are comfy enough for trail work, and pretty enough to show in. I love the great close feel, and balanced ride this saddle gives. The padding is a bonus for those of us who are getting a little older :)
