Purchase: I like to have a few shaped saddle pads on hand and use them for both training and showing.
I can't remember exactly where I bought this pad but they usually sell for around $25.00 Cdn (without taxes) from various tack stores.
Likes: These shaped white pads are more than suitable for showing and look nice for schooling as well. I like to use shaped pads during the hotter months specifically because they're cooler than square pads - they don't cover as much of the horse.
Dislikes: Out of all the shaped pads I've ever bought, this is the only one I dislike. After approximately 5 uses, the padding shifted. These weren't hard rides and the pad was stored properly before and after each use.
Since it's practically new, I'd like to fix it but I don't really want to cut the pad open - or start ripping stitches - to do so. The padding on the right side has sort of bunched down into the flap area (so there's no padding for the horses back) and I don't want to put it on a horse and risk a pressure point.
Quality: This waffle weave saddle pad has synthetic fleece around the edge, as well as nylon straps for the girth and flaps to stabilize it.
Summary: I do like waffle weave saddle pads and own several. They're generally hard wearing and look great.
I own quite a few Cavalier products and have never had a problem with them before. I'm guessing this was a manufacturing defect and wouldn't hold it against the company at all.
I'm disappointed that I hardly got any use out of this pad, but would buy Cavalier products again.
