Purchase: I bought this saddle off Ebay for $300 plus $25 for shipping. I needed a saddle to fit my wide Haflinger gelding and Wintec was in my price range.
Likes: Very comfortable saddle considering the width. The pommel is wide and flat but isn't even noticeable when riding. I feel secure in the saddle over fences and just riding the trails. The flaps are more straight cut than the 500 model, more like the VSD which I also like since it eliminates some surface area over my horse's shoulders. The CAIR panels are nice and forgiving unlike traditional flocking where there isn't any give or molding effect. My gelding finally has clearance for his spinal processes and hopefully he won't develop more white patches of hair associated with his other too small saddles.
Dislikes: The saddle is wonderful and great for the price. I was lucky enough to find a great deal on Ebay. I don't like synthetic tack but I can't afford the Duett saddle I would really like to own. However, I am pleased with my Wintec.
Quality: Super quality but I wish they would make the flap where the billets are a different material. Hair gets trapped there really easily and doesn't wash off well like the rest of the saddle.
Summary: I thank Wintec for making a wide saddle for our drafts and draft ponies who deserve the comfort. Great rider comfort as well. I hope to someday see a close contact and dressage version of the wide model. It's not the Duett I want but it far surpasses any expectations I had in a synthetic saddle.
