Purchase: I was looking for a bareback pad that was 'grippy' without spending as much as a used saddle. I was in the market for a bareback pad to help get myself & my mare back into shape after we had our babies. After many hours on line and a few phone calls to tack stores & manufactures, this pad seemed to fit what I was looking for. I purchased this pad from State Line Tack for $65 and no shipping. Great deal!
Likes: The bareback pad was exactly what I was hoping for. After our test ride with the girth left not too tight (mare hates her girth snug), nothing moved. The pad never slipped and I felt very secure even with a good Arab spook.
I'll admit at first I wasn't sure if the micro-suede was going to be grippy because it felt very soft/smooth, but it was wonderful! The contour design is great. There is just enough padding to make both of us very comfortable. I love the 'tacky too' underside. The pad seems to be very well made. I wasn't sure about the color, orange, that I chose but I actually love it. Great shade, not bright.
Dislikes: The only thing that I didn't care for, which I expected, was the girth that came with it. IMO, the company could save their money & just do away with including one. I just used my western cinch and all was fine.
Quality: The bareback pad seems to be very well made. I hope to put many hours on this pad and put the quality to its test.
Summary: Looking for a good bareback pad that is comfortable & grippy but don't want to spend $100+ ??? This is the bareback pad to consider!!!
