Purchase: I bought this at a show, and its retail was around $90. I got it half price, though.
Likes: I love its classic look. I am a little old-school, so I still like the "hunt cap" style. The velvet looks very nice, and the harness is well made and unobtrusive. Also, I have short hair, and many of the helmet styles are designed for longer hair. This one fits well despite the fact that I'm not putting a bunch of hair under it.
Dislikes: I'm not thrilled with it, but since I wear it only at shows, I'm keeping it for now. First - it is heavy! I know my schooling helmet is light, but this one really weighs you down after a while. Also, this helmet tends to settle while it is on my head and pushes on my ears. This gets uncomfortable after a bit. It is also not really well vented, so it gets hot.
Quality: This helmet is well made. I keep it in a bag, but it hasn't shown any signs yet of wear. The Troxel logo button in the lining did pop off, but that isn't really anything necessary anyhow. I wish it had better venting though, as it gets really hot.
Summary: IF this helmet fits you well, it is worth it. Make sure that you are fitted into this helmet if you have your heart set on it. Be warned that it gets hot, though, if you show in hot climates.
