Manufacturer: Barefoot Treeless Saddles
Model: Tahoe Treeless Saddle
Category: Trail Saddles
Purchase: I got my saddle on the internet from a distributor who no longer sells barefoot saddles. I paid about $850 new, and got the stirrup leathers as well. I ordered a skito pad through the same people. I bought it in black to be an endurance saddle.
Likes: The only thing i liked was how cushy the seat was, and how it sat on my horse...the "fit" was impeccable. It was pretty comfortable on my gaited horse.
Dislikes: It was so uncomfortable on my non gaited horses. As soon as i had to post or canter the saddle was terrible. I hated the position of the stirrup "bar", it made riding impossible. The stirrup leathers they sent me were much too long, and the skito pad i ordered was way too big for my size 1 saddle. The billets were dressage style, so you couldn't adjust from on top. The billets showed wear very quickly and so did the saddle flap from the rubbing of the stirrup leather. The knee rolls were in the wrong place, and the blocks only pushed your leg back even further.
Quality: Everything showed wear very easily. It didn't break in easily though. Everything poofed up off the horse. I only rode in it about 20 times and everything looked bad already. I cant imagine what it would look like after an endurance career.
Summary: I had read so much good stuff about these saddles, and i think they work great for some people, but not for me! It was terrible to ride in and made it a chore. I was overall more than disappointed.
