Purchase: I had this saddle custom made for myself in 1986, I paid $1,600.00 and I supplied the silver from my own silversmith.
Likes: EVERYTHING, but the weight. I had it made after my old 1969 fully buck stitched Circle Y (Which was stolen 2 years later). I'd popped the Diablo conchos and horncap off of it and had my silversmith make corner plates and nameplate to match, along with the silver for my breastcollar.
It's 22 years old now and has held up fairly well through it's show years, then as a work saddle. Although nowadays I had Broken Horn make a work saddle for me about a decade later with just a simple change in tree(I had them use a bowman), rigging and no tooling.
I bought another Circle Y, to replace the one stolen a couple of years ago, but after riding my BH saddles, I'm sooooooo spoiled!
Dislikes: I designed it, so all I can whine about is the weight! :::Laughing::: As I'm getting OLDER it's getting harder and harder to lift!
Quality: Semi QH wood/rawhide tree, 15.5" seat padded to a 14", 13" swell, 3.5" cantle, horn is a 3" low mex, skirts semi squared, 27", Fenders (girl) reg for a 29" inseam.
Rigging: Dee rings in tree.
Silver lacing through horn, gullet and cantle.
I just copied all this from the original work order which is in file 8/2/86
Summary: It's still serving me faithfully and outside of the weight, don't have anything to complain about.
