Manufacturer: Crates Saddlery
Category: Trail Saddles
Purchase: I bought this saddle off of Tacktrader.com for $690.00 including shipping.
Likes: Crates Saddles have proven themselves to me time and time again. Although this is the base model crates saddle, it is still very well made and comfortable. The chocolate suede padded seat gives enough friction to hold you in, it is padded and comfortable on the bum for long trail rides. I love the way Crates balanced their seats, they are narrow in the front with a well balanced pocket. The leather even in this basic model is high quality. The stirrups are long on these saddles though so a word of caution for shorter folks.
Dislikes: Being a base model, there is no silver, not even any conchos, but those are easily added after market.
Quality: Crates saddles have exceptional quality. I have a used crates from 1991 and it looks just as good as this 2003 model. Well made.
Summary: Buy Crates.
