Purchase: I paid about $85 for the chaps from Dover Saddlery online because I had seen other people wearing them and they were for a reasonable price for the quality of the product.
Likes: These half chaps fit very well and are the correct height for my leg. I really like the accordian style leg, it makes for a great fit! I mainly ride in breeches with half chaps, but I have ridden with jeans and my half chaps and they fit over my jeans great! Unlike other reviews, my elastics haven't shown any signs of breaking.
Dislikes: Recently one of the snaps on my half chaps that is at the bottom that goes across the zipper down the leg has fallen off. I find this disappointing considering I had only ordered them just 9 months ago. Hopefully the local saddle shop can get it fixed.
Quality: They are constructed well, with the inner leg of the chaps reinforced. The suede holds up very well. But, some adjustments may need to be made to the snap closure, considering one of mine has broken after less than 9 months of use, usually just a day of riding per week.
Summary: Overall I believe the all around half chaps are great. The suede holds up well and the chaps fit very well. Normally boots and half chaps are too tall or tight for my leg, but the height is just about perfect and they stretch to fit around your calf. But, I find it disappointing that the snap closure has fallen apart after less than 9 months of once a week riding.
