Purchase: I bought this saddle from the Mass. dealer, netfilly. I got mine at half price, $500 as it is the discontinued newmarket color. 17.5, 34cm tree.
Likes: I love the leather, it has been easy to break in and the seat is to die for! The flaps are nice and forward, and I have the 34cm tree for my wide backed QH/TB cross. The color is softening to a nice oakbark, and the stitching is lovely. It feels very secure even over the bigger fences, and I like this better than the artificial position forcing feel of the Bates Caprilli and some other newer saddles, in my opinion. It is wool flocked, rather unheard of at this price and you can send wither tracings for a 'custom' fit.
Dislikes: Just two things; luckily this color is discontinued as it has been hard to match tack to, think Edgewood and Crosby newmarket. It is darkening though, and I needed the price break!
The wide tree (they are U shaped not V like typical saddles) makes for a little adjustment on feel. I have settled into it nicely though in two months and no longer notice. Does yield a very secure feel in your tack!
Quality: Very good, can't complain. This saddle has some features of saddles twice its price and they really work to fit the horse.
Summary: Great saddle for the wide guys, expensive features, and comfort for half the price of its quality! I love it!
