Manufacturer: Weaver Leather
Model: Close Contact Saddle
Category: Close Contact Saddles

Purchase: I bought this saddle from valleyvet.com and paid $210.

Likes: It was very affordable. It fit a high withered thoroughbred I rode in a show very nicely.

Dislikes: The tree is messed up!!! It fits my quarter horse/arab in the gullet, but it is very low in the back, and my horse even has level withers. I thought this could be fixed with a riser pad, but the riser pad barely helped at all! I always feel like I'm sliding off of the saddle, and it offers no support when landing a jump. Within only days of use, it was suffering extreme color rubbing by the stirrup leathers. It is a brown saddle, and it looks orange! It is very uncomfortable to sit in, and the leather is still extremely stiff, even though I've been riding every day in it for an hour for two months. I even treat it with Neatsfoot oil after every ride to soften the leather, but nothing works. The safety stirrup bars always release, and the stirrups have come out from under my feet twice while I was riding, and my instructor confirmed that this was not because of a leg position problem.

Quality: The tree is sound, but does not fit my quarter horse. The brown color on the saddle rubs off and looks orange. It is very uncomfortable and ugly.

Summary: I would only recommend this saddle as an inexpensive piece of crap to saddle train a high-withered horse.
