Purchase: I got it a couple years ago as a gift. But it advertised on the site for $229.00 including a pad. does not include a girth.
Likes: Very secure. And yes it is almost slip proof-once you get it cinched up tight enough. Add a slip proof pad underneath and I can't hardly get it to scoot over to straighten it out. LOL
I find it so secure that I prefer riding without stirrups even, a first on my prancy bouncy arab.
Quite cushy on the tush. Might not be enough on a bony back. But its easy to add another pad under it.
Lots of rings to tie stuff on. I can even use a water bottle bag in the front snapped to the ring. I have put a lot of miles on mine now.
Dislikes: That the stirrups don't have a safety release. She can make them so they Velcro together, but it would be better if it Velcro's to the pad itself. And the ring CAN bug you. It is somewhat hard to find a girth short enough. I had to get a dressage girth in a 22 inch length, I could go shorter even.
It does need a pad underneath it to create a channel for long rides. But for use as a bareback pad not a problem. Its a good idea to use a breast collar too, but then its a good idea with ANY bareback pad, they can slip backwards too easy up hills.
Its not washable.
Quality: Very nice, stitching even and straight, leather good quality, rings strong and not the el cheapo ones where the weld gives way or they rust. Its Oregon, cheap metal rusts fast here.
I wish they included a girth.
Summary: I love my LJ pad, I find it secure and comfy. I even picked it over my treeless to ride in a parade recently. Only bad this is it is not water proof so if its threatening rain I have to ride in my other saddle since its waterproof.
