Purchase: I purchased this saddle from a tack store near me for $899 on sale. (: It did not come with leathers or any extra gullets but i got some from a friend who ones the wintec version for trail riding. I purchased it because my horse has tall withers and large shoulders that make it hard to fit her to a saddle and to top that off..she changes muscling a lot. Ive had her for 3 years and went through 8 saddles. I decided that something with a changeable gullet would work so that i can keep up with her changing. I wanted a collegiate because i liked the brand and because my friends have had good results. Ive been riding in it and she has even sweat marks and moves out so much nicer because she finally has freedom in the shoulders.
Likes: I like the convertible gullets and the fact that they come in many sizes. Haven't had to change yet, but I've had experience doing it for a friend. Also it has a slightly cutback head which helps with her withers. The self padded flaps really help with my posture and the seat is so comfortable. Unlike some other saddles. mine has shone hardly any wear on the flaps even though i ride 6 days a week.
Dislikes: The only things i didn't like were how stiff the saddle was when i got it. I oiled it everyday and now it feels like butter. grippy too. And the fact that the screws for the gullet like to come loose. not enough to cause any damage. but just enough to annoy someone with OCD.
Quality: The quality seems very good and sturdy. the only problem is how stiff the leather is at first. after some riding and oiling the saddle feels so soft. almost too soft.
Summary: I love this saddle and hope to have it a long time. Its so comfortable and the first saddle that has fit my horse. I wish i would have gotten it sooner. Definitely worth the price.
