Purchase: I audited a Larry Whitsell seminar in March, 2008. My friend participated with her horse. Casa Dosa brought several demo saddles. I tested one of the saddles on my friend's horse. I ended up buying one, paid $1,500 and took it that day.
Likes: I tested one of the saddles on my friend's horse. It was a very comfortable saddle. I ended up buying one, paid $1,500 and took it that day. It's an good enough saddle but, I should have been more careful. Fits my horse. Good tree (according the saddle repair man).
Dislikes: The stirrup leather rivets; wrong leather used for latigo; unfinished edges on skirts and stirrup fenders.
Quality: I had to take the saddle to a saddle repair man because the rivets used on the stirrup leathers were cheap and broke after one ride (thank goodness this didn't happen on the trail!) The saddle repair man pointed out the stirrup leathers are pretty narrow, the latigo strap was made out of the wrong type of leather (I had to replace the latigo), the edges of the skirts and fenders weren't properly finished.
Summary: While it is a nice enough saddle and fits my TW mare, the workmanship could be much improved. I will keep the saddle but, recommend checking out other gaited saddle makers.
