Purchase: I purchased these half chaps a couple of years ago from Dover Saddlery for around $100. I needed some new half chaps because I had outgrown my other pair and I wanted the leather ones that look almost like tall boots when you are riding (I had the suede velcro ones before).
Likes: There is a lot I like about these half chaps. The first thing I like is the leather. It is very nice quality and it looks really nice. They look like tall boots when you are riding. (Someone even had to ask if I was wearing tall boots or half chaps once). The second thing I like is the quality. These half chaps seem to last a long time. I have had them for about 4 years and have ridden in them at least twice a week almost every week for that time and they still look almost brand new. My trainer also had I pair that she had had for at least 5 or 6 years and she rode in them several times a week and hers were still holding up well. The third thing I like about these half chaps is how comfortable they are. With the elastic panel, they stretch a little, making them fit perfectly. They are easy to move in, and sometimes I even forget they are on. The last thing I like about these half chaps is how easy they are to care for. I usually just hose them off and then let them lay out to dry (occasionally I will put saddle soap and boot polish on them, but I don't to that often) and they still look fine.
Dislikes: The only thing I do not like is how hard the snap at the top is to snap. This does not do anything but hold the panel the goes over the zipper down, but it does look better if it is snapped. I have never been able to snap it and usually someone has to snap it for me.
Quality: The quality is amazing and so is the construction. As I mentioned earlier, these half chaps last a long time. As long as I have had them, nothing has broken and the leather still looks great.
Summary: Overall, these half chaps are wonderful. They are sort of expensive, though the price isn't that bad, but they hold up for a long time. These are amazing, high quality half chaps that I would recommend to everyone.
