Classic II Half Chaps
Model: Classic II Half Chaps
Category: Dressage Saddles
Purchase: I bought these half chaps from Dover Saddlery for around $100 because I outgrew my other pair and wanted some leather ones that would look like tall boots (I had the suede velcro ones before).
Likes: I like a lot of things about these half chaps. The first thing I like is the looks. I love the look of the smooth leather and how they look like tall boots when I am riding (someone even had to ask if I was wearing tall boots or not once when I was wearing these). I also like the quality. These half chaps are of very high quality and have lasted a long time. I have had mine for about 5 years (riding in them at least 2 or 3 times a week) and they still look almost brand new. My old trainer also had a pair (she was the one that recommended that I get these) for at least 7 years and she rode in them several times a week and they were still holding up well. I also like how comfortable these half chaps are. The elastic panel makes them fit really well and makes them easy to move in. These half chaps are also easy to care for. I usually just hose them off and lay them out to dry (I occasionally put saddle soap and boot polish on them, but I don't do that often) and they still hold up well.
Dislikes: The only thing that I do not like is that the snap at the top (the one that holds the panel that goes over the zipper down) is really hard to snap and I have to get someone to help me snap it. Other than that, there is nothing else I would change.
Quality: The construction and the quality of these half chaps is amazing. As I mentioned before, I have had these half chaps for several years and they are still in good condition, the leather isn't cracking, the stitching is fine, etc. I have also not had to have anything replaced or fixed on them.
Summary: Overall, these half chaps are wonderful. They are a little pricey, but they are definitely worth it. They hold up for a long time and still look wonderful.
