Purchase: Got mine online from Sunrise Tack for about $85 plus about $12 shipping.
Likes: I got may favorite leather breast collar out of storage, spent lots of time cleaning the green mold off of it, then conditioned it etc. The next week I went on a cross-country jumping course and it got lathered with sweat, so needed cleaning all over again. Enough of that!
I searched all over online for a good synthetic breast collar, and the Zilco seemed the best. I love it! and it has been admired by others in my barn.
The brass fittings, just the right amount of padding, and it looks good. I love the extra snap for the piece that goes over the base of the neck so I don't have to unclip my horse from cross-ties to put it over his head.
Dislikes: I once had a horse with a very sensitive chest. He didn't like to have his chest brushed or anything. Even though I am an english rider, I had to use a big fleece-padded western breast plate on him. For any other horse, the Zilco seems perfect. I have not decided whether I will use it showing or not.
Quality: Excellent quality.
Summary: I now have a second horse and because I sometimes take them out together I am looking to buy another Zilco breast collar.
