Purchase: After wearing the same hunt jacket for 10 years (since I was 12), I decided it was time to get more with today's style and into a better-fitting jacket. I purchased this particular jacket off of Ebay new for around $60 (retail price is around $150) in the french blue color.
Likes: I like the tailored fit and the overall look that you get without having to pay a lot for it. The lining keeps you a little cooler and makes the jacket more comfortable. I like that Ovation offers a large variety of colors with character in this jacket, instead of the usual blues, hunter greens, and blacks. You can find french blue, brown plaid, herringbone, just to name a few. The french blue color is a little more radiant than a normal navy blue and has a faint lighter blue pin-striping. This color works with any color horse and most color breeches for a polished, finished look. The jacket also is easy to find in long sizes (some jackets seem hard to find in a long size...)
Dislikes: The lining in the sleeves seems a little loose, and I've found that if I ride in a short-sleeve blouse in warm weather the lining sticks to my arms and the wool sleeves slide up. Even in the long sizes the sleeves seem just a tad short. When riding they just reach my glove cuffs.
Quality: The quality seems good - I've only worn it a couple times so far. The lining seems very durable and the 100% wool is of good quality.
Summary: A great jacket for the rider on a budget who wants a quality jacket with a tailored look in colors that stand out a little.
