Manufacturer: Custom Saddlery
Model: VLX
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: I originally rode a friend's old VLX because I was getting tired of my Niedersuss. It was love at first ride!! The leather was amazing! The seat seemed to just welcome my butt and had a nice high cantle, which I like because it makes me feel kind of secure and it just feels good!! My horse moved very well in it and seemed comfortable. Then the saddle didn't fit her and was causing her pain because it was made for a wider horse, so instead of borrowing my friend's I decided to buy my own! We called the company and after a few months, took a little while to find a 17.5 used VLX. We found one (a half inch smaller, but that didn't matter) that was a Signature, off the shelf never customized, and we had it fitted! Again love at first rider!!! We bought it for $1,999, it was slightly used, but when we got it, it looked brand new, and it still does!!

Likes: The leather is so soft and comfy. It's made out of buffalo leather, so it's really soft and really durable too. It cleans very well, I just used a damp paper towel and tiny bit of Effax and it was clean!! The saddle fits my horse extremely well, which is good for my mare since she has an uneven back. It also fits me really well. The Custom Saddlery people were also very kind to us! The main manager Fred Taut treated me like I competing at the highest levels of dressage, and I've never done a test above First Level! A great experience to work with them! I will never buy another saddle from a different company!!

Dislikes: Nothing!! This saddle is absolutely perfect! I hate getting out of it, either that or hate getting off my horse, can't tell, it's probably both! This is just a wonderful saddle!

Quality: This saddle is entirely constructed out of buffalo leather and has a really deep seat with a high cantle and a somewhat high pommel. It has some rather large knee pads, but they're really spongy and kind of let your knee sort of sit wherever it wants without pushing it.
